All driving events (slaloms, autocrosses) will be governed by the 2003 PCA Parade Competition Regulations (PCRs) with the following exceptions:
1. IRPCA members and guests may enter one car per event. The car must be a Porsche if driven by a non-member. Select events (with higher site use fees) may be opened up to members of other enthusiast clubs with locally small numbers such as the BMW Car Club of America at the discretion of the Slalom Master.
2. The entry fee at each event will be $15. Two-day events are $15 per day. There will be a $10 late fee assessed each participant registering after 9:00 a.m. For special consideration to avoid assessment of the late fee contact the Slalom Master at least 24 hours in advance.
3. Registration will be open from 8:00-9:00 a.m. the day of each event. Tech will be open from 8:00 9:15 a.m. A group course "walk and chalk" start at 9:15 a.m. (course will not be finalized until 9:15 a.m.) Drivers' meeting will take place at 9:45 a.m. and the first car will leave the starting line immediately following that meeting. Available daylight and inclement weather may alter these times slightly.
4. Each car must pass a technical inspection prior to each event. Volunteers perform these inspections, and we appreciate your cooperation in removing all loose items from the car before being inspected. This includes radar detectors, cell phones, CDs, lawn chairs, floor mats, etc. Items to be inspected include seat belts (factory belts are usually OK), brake pedal firmness and fluid level, throttle return spring, battery tie-down, fluid leaks, wheel bearings, a reasonable exhaust loudness, tire tread (tread "squiggles" with no cord exposed) and participant number(s). The owner should tighten lug nuts or bolts to factory specifications. A torque wrench will be available at all events for this purpose.
5. A registration table will be set up at each event where participants will sign the "Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement" form for that day or weekend as soon as they arrive. All adults at the site whether participating or not must sign the waiver and all minor children must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver for them. Also at the registration table will be tech inspection/registration forms. Once the entry fee has been paid a copy of this is given to the driver to complete the requested driver and car information before placing it on the windshield of the car and presenting the car for tech inspection. Once the car has been inspected this form is taken to the registration table.
6. All participants are required to work during the event. If you are not willing to work don't sign up to run. Volunteers run these events. If you are not pulling your weight the Slalom Master may ask you to leave the event and points will not be given to those unwilling to assist. While working the course remain alert. Course workers must have their wits about them at all times and remain standing while cars are on the course. While pedestrians have the right-of-way on the course, don't push your luck. Safety is of the utmost importance. The Slalom Master and the Safety Chair will be responsible for maintaining safety during the events. The have the authority to discipline, by ejection or other suitable penalty, any person who is deemed to be acting in a hazardous, illegal or immoral manner at or near the event site.
7. Car numbers are held over from previous years. A list of these will be available to view at each event and those without a number may choose one not already in use. These must be clearly displayed on the car for each driver on each side of the car.
8. Please walk the course (only after your car has been cleared through tech) enough times to be familiar with it before driving it. For beginners this means walk it at least four times. Each course is different! A knowledgeable driver may lead a group of drivers before each event to point out proper racing lines, braking points and other pointers just prior to the drivers' meeting.
9. No alcoholic beverages, illicit or mind-altering drugs are to be used prior to the event's conclusion.
10. Each event will have a specified number of timed runs made by each driver (usually six). Most of the events will be run in two halves i.e.: two run groups taking three runs, working the course and timing equipment for fellow participants who make three runs and repeating the process until the specified number of runs have been completed.
11. Multiple driver cars are required to enter the course with at least four cars having run since the car's last run regardless of who last drove it. Fellow participants are encouraged to allow these cars to enter the line more frequently to ensure that all drivers complete their runs when the rest of the run group does.
12. In the event of a clock malfunction during the last half of the timed runs a rerun will be granted without accrued penalties (downed or cones moved from their box) carried over to the rerun. If the clock totally malfunctions during the event stopwatches may be used.
13. Required clothing or gear includes a Snell 90 or better-rated helmet for all drivers and instructors and shoes covering the entire foot. Long pants and shirts with long sleeves made of cotton or some other fire-resistant clothing is recommended in addition to gloves. All participants are encouraged to purchase their own helmet to ensure correct fit and availability. A limited number of "loaner" helmets are available for participants during their initial events. Those who plan on attending on a regular basis should purchase their own helmet. They are sold locally for reasonable prices.
14. Seatbelt use while on course is mandatory.
15. Volunteers are needed for several duties throughout the event. This includes setting up the course, blocking off select entrances, setting up a source of shade for the registration table, performing the tech inspection, marking the course once set up, working the course, running timing equipment, indicating when each car may enter the course, writing down penalties and elapsed times, collecting traffic cones and placing them and all other equipment in the proper place at the event's conclusion and other duties as they arise.
16. All drivers must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid drivers license. Please see Slalom Master for Junior Participation Program Requirements (16/17 years old drivers).
17. No passengers are allowed at any PCA Autocross events. Instructors may drive with or be driven by students. Instructors must receive notification of their status from the Slalom Master or Safety Chair before assuming this role. Not everyone can be an instructor. Novice drivers must have a qualified instructor ride along during all runs until cleared by an instructor to drive alone. First-time drivers will be allowed two extra practices runs with an instructor during the driver's first IRPCA event. The student and his/her instructor must file a New Student form before they are allowed to solo.
18. Drivers are responsible for classifying their own car. A list of classes is available at each event. If another driver protests class assignment and the protest is upheld by the Rules Committee, the offending driver loses any points awarded for that event but will be granted a participation point.
19. Points for each event will be awarded in the following manner for each class: 1st place-9 points 2nd place-6 points 3rd place-4 points 4th place-3 points 5th place-2 points All other entries-1 point Year-end points will be tallied and class winners for the season will be given a prize if at least 4 events were entered. If a driver competes in more than one class during a season the driver will be classed in the category most often entered and will be granted a single participation point for each event entered in another class.
20. A novice driver should identify themselves during the drivers' meetings in order to receive orientation to timing, penalties and participant etiquette.
21. Everyone should have fun and learn more about their limits and the limits of their car at each event.
